2 Ways To Never Go Hungry in New Orleans

- Wednesday, June 03, 2015
(Andiamo) Caponata | by TheHungryDudes I'm like you. When I first got word I was heading to New Orleans, all I could think about was the food that was going to help me stay fat. Not fit but fat. I like to keep a few extra-pounds on me in case of another economic crisis, nahmean?  Once you step foot in Nawlinz you'll be overwhelmed by your options for world-class dining.  But I have good news.  Instead of zig-zagging and zipping all over town, you can attend one of New Orleans' many Summer food festivals where all your options are located in ONE place.  That's what I'm talking about!

Check out this pair of perennial favorites.

1.  The French Market Creole Tomato Festival

The annual Creole Tomato Festival marks its return on June 13th and 14th, 2015.  Located at the French Market, alongside the mighty Mississippi River,

the event provides a family friendly atmosphere with activities designed to keep your kids busy while you keep your stomach busy.

Admission to the event is FREE!

It's New Orleans, so you can trust music is in the air.   The Creole Tomato Festival boasts three musical stages.  This year, performances by The Leroy Jones Quintet and Gina Brown top the line-up.

And the food?  You know that's gonna be off the chain!  And no dish is priced above $7!  Click here to the see what's on the menu.

2.  Tales Of The Cocktail

Listen, the days of going to New Orleans, buying (3) 40 ounces of malt liquor and heading to your room to pre-game are behind you.  Wait.  Am I the only one to do that?

Uhum, at any rate, New Orleans lays claim as the birthplace of the cocktail.  And from July 13th through the 20th, New Orleans will play home to Tales of the Cocktail, the premiere cocktail festival in America.  Drink wisely, as their week long slate of events are enough to keep your head spinning.

The organizers have gone so far as to curate pairings at restaurants across the city.  The only thing left is to secure your Uber to get around the city.
